Oh, Star Wars Battlefront, you missed out on so many things. While this game isn't necessarily bad, it missed a lot of potential features. But let's focus on ten specific points. Also note that some of these issues may end up being, or have already been, solved by the DLC. However, it doesn't matter because they should have been included in Star Wars Battlefront from the start.
1. GALACTIC CONQUEST
Okay, I know this was a game mode in a previous Star Wars game, but it should have made an appearance. Galactic Conquest can be considered a form of RISK, and it gave Battlefront II more meaning to individual battles. It would have been nice to see something close to that in the final installment.
2. MORE MAPS
This problem has been solved by DLC, but that doesn't change the fact that EA released this game with minimal maps. This game should have come with several extra maps and I don't know why it didn't. It's so irritating when video game companies deliberately leave room for DLC in order to make more money.
3. SPACE BATTLES
You would think that a Star Wars game would be rich in space battles. Well, apparently EA has decided that it doesn't need to be. I'd like to sit them down in an interview and ask them what was going through their minds.
4. GALACTIC CONFLICT
An interesting feature, although its absence doesn't hurt the game too much, would have been a counter that tallies your rebel and imperial victories. Players like to have statistics because it keeps them playing with a purpose.
5. MORE CANONICAL MISSIONS
It seems like Star Wars Battlefront makes a little too much of the capture the flag idea. It would have been really nice to see missions like the destruction of the shield generator on Endor.
6. HANGARS
As the game currently stands, unless a DLC has changed it, there are tokens that are randomly placed. These tokens allow you to pilot a vehicle, but there should be places where they are kept so you can go and pick one up.
7. ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS
Electronic Arts should have done a better job of adding environmental factors. For example, why not put the Imperials at a greater disadvantage by throwing rocks at them?
8. TROOP VARIATION
Is it just me or are the warriors on the battlefield too similar to each other. Whether it's the Heavy Troopers or the Rebel spies, the troops don't have much variety. How hard is it to implement classes that have different strengths and weaknesses?
9. MORE COOPERATIVE PLAY
You'd think EA would have done better with cooperative play in Star Wars Battlefront. They have implemented it, but overall there isn't much to do with other people. They could have created a PvP drop zone, or anything else to add cooperative play.
10. A CAMPAIGN MODE!
I've never heard of an action shooter video game that didn't have a campaign mode. As a company, how on earth can you make a video game without a campaign? This is absolutely inexcusable and I don't want to hear any excuses from EA. Sure, Star Wars Battlefront isn't unbearable without this mode, but it makes no sense that there isn't one. EA can make all the excuses they want, and I think they've made comments about it, but I don't buy it. They'd be better off creating DLC for this game, but I really doubt they will.
