Since the release of the PS4, gamers have been wondering when Ratchet and Clank would make the jump to the next-gen console. Since the release of Ratchet and Clank: Into the Nexus in 2013, developer Insomniac has been busy with multiple projects, including Sunset Overdrive, Song of the Deep, and numerous mobile titles. After a three-year break from the series, Insomniac is ready to deliver the latest entry, simply named Ratchet and Clank. Here are some things to consider before diving back into the series.

Release date

Ratchet and Clank will be released on PS4 on April 12, a few weeks before the first major movie in the series. No word yet on whether or not the game will come with a discount on movie tickets.

Ratchet and Clank: Retold

In an industry currently dominated by HD remakes, it's nice to see Insomniac bucking the trend. Ratchet and Clank for the PS4 is a re-release of the PS2 adventure that started it all 14 years ago. Where most developers simply update the graphics, Insomniac has gone one step further by adding many features from later versions of the series, such as upgradable weapons, the ability to play as Clank and new game modes.

From your PS4 to the big screen

Ratchet and Clank isn't just a remake, it's also a movie entry. The movie, which comes out on April 29, tells the origin story of our two heroes. The movie will largely follow the plot of the original game.

Old favorites return

The series' weapons have always been a force to be reckoned with. Ratchet and Clank marks the return of many popular weapons, including the Sheepinator, which turns enemies into sheep, the Groovitron, which fires explosive disco balls, and Mr. Zurkon, which fires cheesy lines while killing enemies.

Pixelize HD: Your New Favorite Weapon

Ratchet and Clank also introduces some new weapons. One of them is the Pixeliser HD. This shotgun turns its victims into pixelated versions of themselves until they collapse into little cubes. It's a great addition to a series that continues to give players fun and creative ways to take out their enemies.
