I can't wait to play Mortal Kombat X when it finally comes out! Wait a minute, it's already been out since April of last year? Okay, now I'm pissed and I think I'll go to the store now. However, before I go, I invite you to check out these ten secret facts about the game.
1. THE GAME ENGINE
The game engine used to create Mortal Kombat X is Unreal Engine 3. However, did you know that this is the same engine that was used in the popular children's show Lazy Town? That's funny because I can't imagine a worse children's game than Mortal Kombat X!
2. SYSTEM OF A DOWN MEMBER-DRIVEN LAUNCH TRAILER
System of a Down is a very popular metal band, and one of its members directed the Mortal Kombat X launch trailer. Shavo Odadjian was in charge, and he even used one of the band's best songs, Chop Suey, in the trailer.
3. THE SCORE IT GOT ON STEAM
This is more of a surprising fact than a secret, but I think it's worth looking into. This game, on Steam, only got a score of 6/10. This is very surprising due to the popularity of the game. Also, this is the very first Mortal Kombat game to arrive on Steam.
4. ERIK JONES
Did you know that the official logo of this game was actually on Erik Jones' car? Erik Jones, who is a NASCAR driver, had the logo on his car number 20 in the XFINITY series. Talk about a way to promote your product!
5. IOS VS. ANDROID
Did you know that the iOS version of Mortal Kombat X was released several days before the Android version? The former was released on April 7, 2015, and the latter was actually released on April 23, 2015. You know, I think NetherRealm Studios is racist towards Android.
6. SIX DIFFERENT VERSIONS OF THE GAME.
If you're a true Mortal Kombat X nerd, then you know that there are six different versions of this game. To name a few, you have the default version, the Amazon exclusive version and the Gamestop edition.
7. WHEN THE GAME STARTED
I know that not all of you are stupid and know that it takes a lot of time to create a video game. However, you may not know the exact date when Mortal Kombat X started. It was in April 2012 that the development of this game started.
8. CASSIE CAGE
We all know that Cassie Cage likes to listen to music before unleashing hell. However, if you listen carefully to what she's listening to when she takes off her headphones, you'll notice that it's the option screen soundtrack from the Mortal Kombat trilogy.
9. DC COMICS
Even though Mortal Kombat is a video game, it is also a comic book series. It was DC Comics that published a comic book series based on the game, the first episode of which was released last year. This publication acted as a prequel to the game, and it's a very interesting read.
10. HOW THEY GOT THE SOUND EFFECTS
There's only one way to get the sound effect of a broken neck, and that's by crushing fruit! That's what the developers of Mortal Kombat X did, and they also used nuts and vegetables. What a great way to make good use of foods that no one wants to eat anyway! Now I'm finally going to buy this game!
