In case one gets bored of their Xbox One, there are a plethora of other gaming options. Even the Apple Watch is getting in on the act. While not nearly as brilliant as the Xbox, there are some interesting facts about gaming watches. Here are five of them.

1. THE APPLE WATCH IS NOT FOR LONG-TERM GAMING

It's easy to get lost in the seduction of the Xbox One for hours on end, but that addiction isn't easily achieved with the Apple Watch. The main reason for this is physical exhaustion. It's just not comfortable to hold your arm up during long gaming sessions. For that, the iPhone is probably better. However, developers have found that fast and short action games are successful on the device.

2. DEVELOPERS STILL PREFER XBOX ONE AND PS4

Games on the Apple Watch initially generated some excitement among developers, but that excitement seems to be waning. The Watch itself was supposed to be a catalyst for innovation in the mobile gaming market. While that has become partially true, developers have yet to find many experiences that fit well into a gamer's life. The opportunity is there, but it's a far cry from an Xbox One.

3. NEW MARKETS ARE HARD TO JUDGE

The Xbox One has a long history of success. The market is clear and well defined. For this reason, it is much easier to run the whole operation. With the Apple Watch, on the other hand, the primary focus is not gaming. The mobile gaming market is tiny in comparison, so it's hard to invest in game creation. The Watch is limited in terms of screen size, power and input controls. Developers are unfamiliar with this market, making it difficult to evaluate and advance.

4. THE KEY TO SUCCESS: NATIVE MODE

One of the main drawbacks of the Apple Watch was the lack of native apps on the device itself. Fortunately, the latest watchOS2 has fixed some of these problems. The device can now run many games natively without the use of an iPhone. In addition, the APIs for enhanced graphics and interfaces have been upgraded. This could lead to many more OS-level improvements in the future.

5. MOBILE GAMES ARE HERE TO STAY

As frustrating as it may be for developers to work with the mobile games market, they better get used to it. Smartwatches are the inevitable future, there's no way around it. Even the Xbox One has started little by little. Smartwatches will eventually find their place as a growing platform that will become part of our daily lives.
