If you've chosen Australia's most popular city as your next destination and you have the opportunity to spend an entire week there, you should start planning your itinerary. Sydney is a huge city and it's impossible to experience everything it has to offer in just seven days, but you can certainly get a good taste of what life in Australia is like. So let's start planning...

Day One

Most tourists decide to spend their first day in a new destination trying to get as much of a feel for the city as possible. The best way to do this is to take a hop-on-hop-off bus tour, which offers 20 different stops around the city, including the most famous sites. The guides give entertaining and informative talks about the places, and you'll get a better idea of the rest of your vacation after one of these tours.

Day Two

The most famous landmark is probably the iconic Sydney Opera House. You may want to take a backstage tour if you want to know more about the place than if you were just a visitor buying a ticket to see a show. You'll probably take dozens (if not hundreds) of photos, so make sure your camera is fully charged.

Day Three

If you want the best view in Sydney, head to the Sydney Tower Eye. Not only will you be able to see the city 269 meters above the ground, but you'll also learn how the construction was done. Once you've savored this experience, move on to another one that is also popular with tourists visiting this city. Rest your feet and treat your palate to a unique Sydney whiskey tasting and take home a small sample of the blend you created.

Day Four

If you're interested in art, the Art Gallery of New South Wales is a must-see as it has collections of Australian, Aboriginal, European, Asian and contemporary art. More than a million people visit it each year and it's conveniently located. After enjoying a morning of art appreciation, take a short walk to the Royal Botanic Garden where you can see amazing flora from Australia and around the world. You'll find that not only do you feel relaxed here, but you'll also learn a thing or two about botany and horticulture.

Day Five

It would be a shame to visit Australia and not enjoy its fascinating water culture. You can take a boat tour of Sydney Harbour and visit the Australian National Maritime Museum, which boasts collections of objects and artifacts related to the naval and maritime history of Australia and New South Wales in particular. Among other things, you'll see a model of Captain Cook's ship

Day Six

It's almost time to leave Sydney and you probably want to do a little shopping. Our advice is to head to the Queen Victoria Building, which is unlike most modern shopping centers. In fact, this historic 19th century building is home to dozens of stores where you can find almost anything you want, from jewelry to antiques.

Day Seven

This is your last day and you should spend it either revisiting the place you loved the most, or visiting an attraction you just couldn't do during the first six days. If there isn't one, why not head to Bondi Beach for a day of relaxing, sunbathing or swimming? Whatever you decide, make sure you leave enough time to pack for the return trip.

You'll probably understand why so many people choose Sydney as their vacation destination or even their home, and chances are you'll start planning your next trip down under as soon as you return. After all, seven days is not enough to do justice to a city as diverse and amazing as Sydney.
